What is success?
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Winston Churchill
Success means different things to different people. Success in life could imply more time for family and friends, or being able to work anywhere, anytime, by being your own boss and not having to be controlled by institutions anymore.
Success in life could also imply to get a better health, being able to live longer, but also being able to help other people in desperate need. Life success could mean that you become a better human being and a recognized person that gets fairly rewarded for ideas and achievements.
It can also imply to having a close family, raise happy children and having a wealth of wisdom, assets and advice to upcoming generations. You will be remembered as a true spouse and amazing parent.
Success in business could improve shareholder value, and ensure happier clients and employees, as well as, a better world as a result of good deeds by the corporation.
Every person who wins in any undertaking must be willing to burn their ships and cut all sources of retreat (Hill, 2009).
We learn about successful people only after they become successful. But this creates a false impression because, we fail to see how many years they worked hard behind the scenes to get where they are. Henry Ford, a poor and uneducated man, dreamed of a horseless carriage while Thomas Edison dreamed of a lamp operated by electricity.
Thomas Edison had 10,000 failures on his table before succeeding!!! What if he quit the 9999 time? Beethoven was deaf and Milton blind, but their names will never be forgotten due to a fire of hope, faith, courage and tolerance.
Your greatest weakness is your lack of confidence, and this can be destroyed by jealous people, non-intelligent people or people feeling threatened by your superior intelligence and capacity to connect with the upper ladder of a corporation or society.
Anthony Robbins mentions that success in life is to continually grow emotionally, socially, spiritually, physiologically, intellectually, and financially, while contributing in some positive way to others. I and my business partners agree with this statement 100%.
